You're invited to an action + ideas sharing event for people at the intersection of youth engagement + hands-on making.
The 2017 Young Makers Workshop is a convening of program leaders, youth participants, and individuals interested in engaging young people in the growing maker movement in Northeast Ohio. The one-day event is intended to increase awareness of existing programs in the Greater Cleveland area and inspire new actions through guest speakers from outside our region.
Located at Saint Luke’s Pointe in Cleveland’s Buckeye neighborhood, the event will include networking opportunities and hands-on activities for adult leaders and students. Local and national youth maker programs have been invited to present their work, ranging from digital technology and 3D printing to metalwork and public furniture fabrication.
The schedule will kick-off at noon with a complimentary lunch and a keynote presentation, followed by an outdoor build activity to engage all attendees. After the group activity, we'll return to the auditorium for program presentations. The four presenters will provide an overview of their respective programs, providing ideas to discuss with fellow attendees during facilitated table conversations. The event will conclude with a moderated panel discussion with the presenters about future opportunities for youth engagement in maker culture.
The event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required.
